The Imagine Peace Tower is a memorial to John Lennon from his widow, Yoko Ono, located on Viðey Island, off the coast of Reykjavík, Iceland. It consists of a tall "tower of light", projected from a white stone well which has the words "Imagine Peace" carved into it in 24 languages. These words, and the name of the tower, are a reference to Lennon's peace anthem, Imagine.

Da nehm' ich in meiner grenzenlos-naiven Begeisterung den Mund voll mit Phrasen wie "Islandbilder brauchen weder Photoshop noch Lightroom - Island IST Photoshop" - _{(wegen den satten Farben, den glasklaren Kontrasten...)}
Und nun darf ich zur Strafe die sich heimtückisch auf dem Sensor eingenisteten isländischen Staubpartikelchen in mühsamer Kleinarbeit erstens vom Sensor und zweitens - weit ärgerlicher noch - von den Photos entfernen. Mit Photoshop.

Ich hab' zu tun.

Egils MALTEXTRAKT (Maltöl/Malt Ale)
Produced in Iceland for over 50 years it has become sort of a national drink especially among the older generation who still believe it has some kind of supernatural healing qualities. The texture of Maltöl resembles Guiness Beer a bit but it is without alcohol, much sweeter and with just a touch of liquorish in it. It is very refreshing to have a bottle of ice-cold malt. It helps your digestion, makes you look fresh, healthy, and cheerful and eases your trouble … at least it says so on the bottle.

Zum Glück gibt's das auch in englischer (ICELANDERS) und deutscher Übersetzung (ISLÄNDER).

Ausführliche Porträts von etwas über 20 Menschen/Familien aus allen Gegenden des Landes vermitteln auf nahezu 200 Seiten ein eindrückliches Bild einer Nation, die schwerlich zu beschreiben ist - Fotoband und Reiseführer zugleich, jedoch meilenweit entfernt von jedem herkömmlichen Buch dieser Art.

Für mich seit der Entdeckung im unvergleichlichen [Hotel Djúpavík] das ... DAS Islandbuch schlechthin.
