I have been laid low of late.



In March, we made a lovely trip to Scotland to visit my family and then on to fantastic Northumberland for a special birthday - my father in law John's 91st. We enjoyed a quiet celebration as he was not in the best of health and promised him that we would return in October for another visit. Alas, it was not to be. John died 2 weeks after we left him so then we made another, much sadder sojourn to our homeland. I miss John very much and for me the trips to beautiful Northumberland will never be the same.

... ihres [70. Geburtstages] könnte ich ja gelegentlich mal den Versuch machen, eine der vielen Geschichten (besonders diejenige, die ich Herrn Krimmel vor drei Jahren [vage versprochen], sie aber bis Ende Jahr bzw. bis heute eben dann doch nicht bzw. nie hingekriegt habe) zu erzählen ...



Etwas Geduld, bitte ... Das ist nun aber - ich möchte dies ausdrücklich betonen - kein neues Versprechen. Lediglich die Andeutung einer Möglichkeit, zu der ich mich aus besagtem Anlass vielleicht und endlich aufraffen könnte ...

Sehr aufschlussreich - besonders auch, wenn man mit untenstehender Karte vergleicht: Die Erdbebenherde und die die Insel querende Kette der isländischen Vulkane verlaufen ziemlich identisch.

... wenn man weit weg in einem relativ unbeschwerten, "normalen" Alltag lebt: Man kann sich eigentlich überhaupt keine Vorstellung [vom wirklichen Desaster] für die unmittelbar Betroffenen machen.
